Mala or Prayer Beads

Chanting is done all over the world in many different cultures. Every culture and civilization has recognized the magical power of chanting. Indian Mantras are ancient formulas of divine sounds recorded by the sages of India thousands of years ago. Mantra’s power does not come from any particular meaning that the syllables contain but rather the vibrational effect they create when they are pronounced repeatedly.

Repeating a mantra can assist in healing, finding the right course of action for a particular problem, removing blocks to progress, and spiritual development.

These mala beads are made by hand from semi-precious gemstones and reflect a particular energy according to the gemstone. A different mala is recommended for each individual chant.

Mala bracelets contain 27 beads and are usually counted 4 times for the traditional 108 repititions. Full Malas contain 108 and the additional “meru” bead. The center guru bead or “meru” is larger than the others to assist counting as a start and end bead. This meru bead stores up the energy of repetitions and therefore is a vital part of the mala.
